The gallery · Rancho Los Dragones Dorados

Art at the ranch.

The gallery between the house and the studio brings art into the everyday life of the ranch. Paintings, watercolors, sculpture, and mineral specimens share the space with the light, textures, and quiet of our Santa Fe home.

Ann Pistillo

Momma, to Jason.

Ann’s relationship with art began on the southern coast of Italy, where she grew up with an artist father. A classically trained violinist, she has explored music, mosaics, photography, and painting throughout her life. Her plein air practice brings her into the landscapes she paints, with a special affinity for water and its meeting with the land.

Three paintings in the ranch collection grew from Jason’s photographs: Lake Powell, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and Lion’s Head in Cape Town. For the Cape Town painting, two photographs became one composition—a shared way of seeing between mother and son.

Dominic Pistillo

Pops, to Jason.

Dominic’s watercolors bring Cabo’s rock arch and an Italian hilltop village into the ranch collection. He and Ann travelled through Europe studying art, and spent summers aboard their boat—a shared life in which places, art, and exploration were closely connected.

Alongside that creative life, Dominic and Ann helped found what became the University of Advancing Technology in 1983. Their early work with computing and design tools for architects and engineers grew into a university. Here, we feature another part of Pops’ story through Arco Los Suenos and Bagnoregio.

Luna Horse

A white horse stands beneath a luminous full moon against a deep teal ground. Flowing washes and dark, irregular marks give the scene a quiet sense of movement; the pale horse and moon hold the composition in balance.
